OSW - A World of Warcraft Guild -- Zul'jin

The Scattered Winds

What you will do and see during our adventures cannot be attributed to pictures or countless words. Your gains will not come only from loot, or raids ... but from the excellent group of players and the family you want to join. OSW takes care of its own because everyone is valuable. Everyone.

If you feel you want to be a part of this then visit our RECRUITMENT forum for more information.

News That is right! After months of working on this, putting in the blood, sweat and tears (that was lym sobbing in the background) OSW has had its first kill of LK. This kill is the result of all our raiding guildies putting in the effort to learn and practice at this fight with unflagging determination. Congratulations goes out to everyone! In lieu of my normal spiel on the rundown of the fight I just want to bask in the beauty of the achievement. So without any more ado:

The Lich King

The happy news of the Lich King's demise means that we have opened up heroic raiding for OSW raiders! Now we are looking forward to taking a smack at the lootship pinata and several other fights that we are more than ready to tackle with the new twists ahead! So come on out to raid - summer is winding down and we are having a blast here on Zul'jin!

News This week Blizz opened up The Ruby Sanctum - a new instance underneath Wyrmrest Temple. Of course that meant they locked us out of WoW for 24hrs to set it up and we missed raiding on Tuesday. I think some of our members actually went crazy to be deprived for so long, especially on our favourite raid night (and no Lym, you can't blame Blizz for being certifiable since your type of crazy was pre-existing!).

Excited to try out new fights, Ruby Sanctum was high on the list of OSW priorities. Despite rumours to the contrary the trash was pretty easy and the mini bosses were badge pinatas. Killing Halion's three lieutenants Baltharus the Warborn, General Zarithrian, and Saviana Ragefire caused the big purple dragon to spawn in the middle of the instance. Halion was a trickier fight for us to grapple with, made up of 3 phases each with their own unique challenges.
Phase 1 called on raiders to dance around meteor strikes that caused Marrowgar-esque X's of flames and running around dropping void zones all while dealing with standard dragon abilities (that tail lash is a pita!).
Phase 2 had us going to Halion's shadow realm where the biggest issue was a deadly beam that cross-sectioned the raid and rotated around the center of the dragon. After some trial, error, and ingenious ideas from the raiders we managed to co-ordinate ourselves in this intense movement based phase.
Phase 3 had us splitting our forces between actual and shadow realms while still dealing with all the previous abilities from P1&2. The added difficulty came with matching our dps in both realms - if either realm's dps outperformed the other Halion would start hitting like a truck in the opposite realm.

A hard night's work was spent refining our strategy but success was ours!

Halion the Twilight Destroyer

In the late news category, I forgot to post the kill shot of Sindragosa. As this is another fight I have yet to see I can't tell you much about it but that it opened up our access to bash on the Lich King. We haven't got him down yet but we are still working on it!

Sindragosa

We are in full summer-OSW mode now - balancing summer playtime with WoW time. The raiding force is still going strong so come on out and join us - you know you miss us as much as we miss you!

News Even though Sinth is lazy (read:busy) that doesn't mean OSW has been idle. Gabbu has become our intrepid photographer as I have managed to miss all the new first kills in the last few months. Not that I'm jealous to have missed all the kills ... no, me... never ;P

First up is our missing Festergut 25man kill shot. No, its not the original. Lym says he spilled bleach on it - a likely excuse!

Festergut 25man

Our next stop on 25man progress was a visit to the Blood Princes. I've only tried this fight on 10man and it seems like there are some complicated manoeuvrings so I'm mightily impressed with how fast this came down for us on 25man. I have to say that I get a giggle every time I open my mailbox and see that Gabbu titled it the 'Blood Princess'. Maybe its because they are all wearing dresses - you never know what an orc will find attractive!

Blood Princes 25man

*Someone tell Tater to put his clothes back on. Orc=ew! Maybe Odio will lend you his pink dress - he isn't using it right now.

And last on the newest of the old news is our 10man Blood Queen kill. I haven't even attempted this fight once so you guys can all pipe up and tell me how awesome it was. Go ahead - I can take it.

As the summer season approaches it can only mean two things: Our Canadian contingent of OSW can safely step outdoors without fear of frostbite (actually, that is a lie - it was snowing here today Sad ) and we have reduced our raiding nights by one. Now on Fridays you can strike up the barbecue and make me a margarita without missing any raiding fun. Of course our raiding force will continue strong and I expect to see you all for more OSW adventures on our other raiding nights - I need to be in a first killshot pic again so let's get to work!!!

News That is right. I've been digging through my backlog of screen shots looking for our Festergut killshot and it doesn't seem to be there. If there is anyone else that took a few pics after we downed that mob I'd love to add it to our front page asap! This also reminds me to clear out my screen shot file of old Naxx pics - as long as I save all the incriminating evidence I've collected too ;D

At least Gabbu is on the ball and sent me some pics to give our front page a much needed update.

Professor Putricide

I've had a few cracks at this boss myself and I must say it really keeps you on your toes. Between dodging poison vials and being chased by oozes, the most amusing part is watching V8 become an abomb and gobble up the puddles of green goo - he took to it so naturally!

Blood Princes

Blood Princes is a fight I haven't yet tried my hand at but after a night of working on the strat my OSW guildies had no problem downing this group.

Besides downing new bosses last week we had an incredible raid week - 3 out of 5 days we have a solid group of 25 raiders ready and willing at raid-call to push our progress in ICC. That dedication paid off with a Festergut kill (I promise it happened, I have 24 other witnesses!) and coming very close to Rotface going down right behind him. So, keep on coming out to raid and be a part of the glory of the 25man killshot!

PS: As for the missing killshot.... I blame Lym!

News OSW will play! So even though I have been in and out and dealing with non-WOW related things (damn pesky RL!) OSW has been hard at work. These kill shots are over a month old but better never than late.... I mean better never Late.... o, you know what I mean ;D

I took these shots after our very first attempt at both of the puppies. These were pretty simple kills but I really enjoyed the wailing from the upcoming mobs and wanted to taunt them with photo evidence that we killed their pets. This cruel streak was nurtured by Uni and Nath - they were always subjecting me to witness the murder of poor Mr. Bigglesworth.

Precious and Stinky

The ugly pair that awaited us next were not very pleased with us, to say the least. Although it would be hard to read their emotions given that their faces are haphazardly slapped together in a strange piecemeal interpretation that would put even Picasso to shame. With practice and perseverance OSW worked out the kinks in our strat and was rewarded with 2 more killshots for our frontpage.

Festergut and Rotface

Seeing as I am back in the groove and updating the website (I'm sorry I'm such a slacker Lym - you should have known better than to give me any more power ;P) lets all go out and rack up a few more killshots to adorn our front page - I hear there are lots of new bosses to try out!

News Um, I mean Deathbringer Saurfang! >.<

After the last few weeks of clearing ICC easily to this fight we had our first successful kill. Grappling with blood boils hitting melee and refining our strategies with the hounds coupled with everyone bringing their A game lead us to this sweet victory. We even had the time to kill both puppies and have a few cracks at Rotface. Given our great turnouts lately to raid you can bet it won't be long until my next update!

Saurfang

So see you at raid - I know a few really ugly guys in Plagueworks that are dying to make our front page!

News It has been a very busy and productive week for OSW. Not only were we taking on ICC in 2 separate 10man groups, but we had a few nights where we were able to work on 25man ICC.

Lord Marrowgar has been killed by OSW a few times on 25man but I was saving up the picture-goodness for a big news bulletin (because I knew we would be cleaning out ICC and not because I'm lazy I swear)!!!

Lord Marrowgar

This week we really buckled down and concentrated on Lady Deathwhisper. Having some experience with her adds on 10man really contributed to this 25man kill.

Lady Deathwhisper

The gunship battle was a fun as ever, with more people taking to the air on rocketpacks.

Gunship Battle

We have made a lot of progress with Saurfang on 25man and OSW can expect a killshot soon! It has been great to see so many guildies turning up for raid time - keep on coming as we have more great fights to experience!!!

Fight  OSW Conquers Icecrown Citadel Reply to this News Item Print this Topic E-Mail this Topic

News Patch 3.3 has been eagerly awaited to give OSW new bosses and challenges to overcome. After dealing with post-patch inability to log in and then having several raid members get stuck in the game before we had much of a go at the first boss (although highly amusing it was not very conducive to taking down new bosses) OSW had our first trouble-free night to concentrate on the newest raid instance - Icecrown Citadel's Lower Spire.

The first boss is Lord Marrowgar, the guardian of the Frozen Throne. On our way to visit him we discovered a few traps which herald the return of the usefulness for class specialty skills. I guess rogues in pink dresses have skills other then just looking pretty! The bone lord himself was a roller coaster of a fight, between dodging whirlwinds and coldflames, and running to rescue bone-spiked guildies.

Lord Marrowgar

Next up was Lady Deathwhisper. This cult overseer had a mish-mash of abilities from her mage-like manashield to warlock shadowbolts and DK death&decay. We needed to burn through her shield while dealing with the adds she summoned to her aid before we could focus on quickly dispatching the lady.

Lady Deathwhisper

The 3rd event in ICC was a battle on-board gunships. After much play with with our rocket packs we focused on the task at hand - bringing down the enemy ship. BTW - bears keep their rocket packs in the most uncomfortable areas - ouch!

Icecrown Gunship Battle

The final battle in the Lower Spire was against Deathbringer Saurfaug. Apparently my likening this fight to another father/son conflict (Star Wars anyone?) demonstrated my lack of comedy skills and once the family bickering was over (man these guys are long winded) we got down to work.

Deathbringer Saurfang

*I'm not sure why V8 is chasing after the Saurfangs- part of the family perhaps?

As always, new content brings much excitement to OSW and now we are more than ready to tackle Icecrown Citadel on 25man. So come on out to raid and join us in storming the Lich King's last fortress!

News Energized from our recent success with Trial of the Crusader OSW has been branching out to try new things. Happy to have 25 guildies all working together on one goal, it has been a pleasure to see everyone turning up at raid time, ready and raring to go! Always set to face new challenges we turned our attention to hardmodes and content we haven't seen in a while. Our first shots at FL with towers still up gave the fight some new dimensions, keeping us on our toes and entertained. Tearing through early Ulduar content we ended our night with a one shot at 25man Iron Council - a fight OSW had to yet attempt with 25 guildies in tow!

Iron Council 25man

To complete our family album we bring you those stashed photos of fights we've already won (the twins needed to die before we could get to anub!) but were missing from our front page - thanks to Gabbu for snapping this picture for us.

Twin Valkyries 25man

OSW will be continuing our progress with Ulduar and other ventures (HARDmodes!!!) so be sure to show up at raid time - I hear Uni and Primos have pie!
